The second edition of the Sharjah Bridal Fair (SBF), one of the region’s most prestigious wedding and bridal exhibitions, attracted 5200 visitors during its four day run at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre (JRCC).
Attendees were shown most recent fashion trends and clothing lines, as well as the latest products in the world of beauty, skincare and health services. SBF 2017 brought together more than 120 exhibitors, who showcased their latest offerings at the fair, which covered 5,500 square metres.
Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), the event will donate its entry fees to the ‘Ameera Fund’ – an initiative launched by HH Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi in recognition of the late Ameera BinKaram’s immense and unwavering contribution to supporting cancer patients.
As the fair drew to a close recently, SBF 2017 announced the winners of the two competitions held alongside the exhibition: the ‘Sharjah Bridal Fair Fashion Awards’ and ‘Sharjah Bridal Fair Beauty Awards’.
In the ‘Sharjah Bridal Fair Fashion Awards’ three categories, Pearla Dubai won the ‘Best Casual Ready-to-Wear Collection’, while Taleen Couture secured the ‘Best Evening Abaya’ award, and Hijab Fashion Icon ZH won the “Best Evening Wear Collection".
The winners received a cash prize of AED 6,500 each, and many other prizes from the fair.
The competition jury included: Hanan Al Mahmoud, Director of JRCC; Khawla Al Serkal, Director General of Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC); and fashion designer Faiza Bouguessa, Creative Director of Bouguessa Designs.
The fair’s second competition, the ‘Sharjah Bridal Fair Beauty Awards’ Had two categories; hairstylist Ghazal Radwan won ‘Best Bridal Hair style’, while Emirati beauty expert Laila Al Hosany won ‘Best Bridal Makeup Artist’.
The jury consisted of internationally celebrated beauty expert Sara Balderi; Manal Al Haj, beauty expert and official makeup artist for Maybelline New York, in GCC; Claude Al Heacheche, Creative Director and Master Colorist; Maria Dowling, Director of Maria Dowling Beauty Centre; and renowned Emirati make-up artist Layali, and Vera Ritcher, Goldwell Professional Educator.
Hanan Al Mahmoud, Director of JRCC, praised HH Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi’s directives and her role in the fair’s continued success, turning it into a prestigious destination for brides and grooms-to-be and businesswomen working in the fashion and jewellery sectors as well as in event planning and management.
“Sheikha Jawaher’s guidance will help them to develop their businesses, which will help develop SBF’s future editions and increase the number of participants,” Al Mahmoud said.
“SBF 2017 is a unique addition to the world of beauty and fashion, and is one of the most specialised bridal and wedding exhibitions in the region. The fair has become a platform for Arab and Gulf women to stay up to date on worldwide styles and clothing lines as well as the latest trends in event planning,” Al Mahmoud said.
She added: “We are extremely pleased with the fair’s success in its second edition, and will continue to develop the exhibition and activities to attract even wider audiences in the coming years."
Throughout its four days, the fair hosted an elite group of prominent media figures and social media influencers. MBC TV presenter Ola Al Fares enjoyed the fashion shows by participating companies and toured its various halls and stands.
The fair enables prominent Emirati designers to network with their international counterparts. It hosted a galaxy of psychological and social experts who conducted discussion panels on subjects related to marital life and how to swiftly adapt to changes after marriage. The event included an array of seminars, workshops, discussion panels, fashion shows, make-up sessions and bridal hair styling classes under the supervision of beauty and fashion experts.
