Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, SCTDA, is participation in GCC Roadshow, which is organised by the UAE Ministry of Economy, in a number of Gulf capitals to promote latest developments in the tourism industry of the UAE.
The Sharjah delegation is participating in the workshops which will held in the cities of Muscat, Doha, Bahrain, Kuwait and Riyadh, and are expected to attract 100 to 150 of the leading travel and tourism companies in the cities between 14th and 18th May.
Commenting on the participation, Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman of the SCTDA, stressed the importance of the Gulf markets, which are the largest markets exporting tourists to Sharjah, where the hotels in the emirate attracted more than 450,000 guests from the Gulf region in 2016.
He pointed out that Sharjah is one of the preferred destinations for the Gulf tourists because it offers a distinctive family product. It also has common traditions and customs with the Gulf countries while preserving its cultural and heritage identity and offering the Gulf tourists a rich heritage cultural product including a number of heritage features such as the Heart of Sharjah and a number of museums and heritage houses, as well as entertainment centers suitable for the whole family.
The emirate also offers excellent shopping opportunities with a range of tax free high end and high street brands available at luxury malls and heritage markets.
"The authority is keen to participate in roadshows under the umbrella of the Ministry of Economy, which promotes the tourism sector in the emirate as well as the events and festivals organised around the year," he added.
