The fourth edition of the Sharjah Women Sports Cup 2017, organised by the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation (SWSF), will kick off on Tuesday, 10 October, providing an opportunity for female employees from the emirate’s local government and private institutions to compete in volleyball and archery competitions.

Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), the Sharjah Women Sports Cup is a key local competition which reflects Sharjah’s dedication to supporting women in sport.

The event highlights Sharjah’s commitment to establish a culture of exercise and sports for women in general and working women in particular. The multiple benefits include promoting a competitive spirit in a lively and exciting environment, while creating a fun-filled atmosphere for female employees to enjoy new activities and maintain high levels of performance at work.

HE Nada Askar Al Naqbi, Director-General of SWSF, said: “Our ongoing efforts play a large role in elevating the status of women in sports in Sharjah and SWSF’s annual strategic plans feature a number of events to encourage all women to adopt healthy lifestyles and make exercise part of their daily lives.

“We are delighted to be hosting the Sharjah Women’s Sports Cup for the fourth year in these exceptional facilities, which meet International Federation standards set by each of the respective sports,” she added.

The fourth edition of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Cup is sponsored by Barakat Juices, Sifati Café, Mara Café and Emirati Fitness.

The Sharjah Women Sports Cup is a competitive and recreational sporting event that brings together female employees working in the government and private sectors in the Emirate of Sharjah. Organised by the SWSF, it aims to engage employees in sports and athletic events, and encourage them to exercise in order to discover promising talented women and develop their capabilities, with the aim of forming national teams.
