The Health Education Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah will organize a new awareness campaign on Wednesday under the slogan “Pause..Towards A Healthy Life” which focuses on the risks of using technology excessively, especially among children and adolescents, as part of its efforts to promote healthy practices and to protect its community members from wrong behaviours.
The campaign will be launched by a number of specialists and doctors at the University Hospital Sharjah. The Campaign will be followed by a number of specialized workshops for children and adolescents, as well as an awareness campaign on social networking sites and awareness topics to be published through different media outlets. The campaign will continue for a whole month.
HE Iman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Education Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs stated that the campaign aims to educate parents, adolescents and children about the dangers of using electronic devices on public health and their association with many social and psychological behaviours, while looking forward to continuing our efforts to encourage the UAE society to follow good practices and move away from tools that threaten them
The preliminary results of the study, conducted by the Health Education Department in the Emirate of Sharjah, will be revealed during the seminar, to identify the rate of use of electronic devices, monitor the target groups knowledge on the health effects of misuse and excessive use of these devices as well as, assessing the need of community members to raise awareness in this field.
