The Organization Of Islamic Conference Selects Sharjah To Host 2011 Session Of Businessmen Forum And Islamic Commercial Exhibition

The event to be held at Sharjah Expo and features showcasing of several investment opportunities in Islamic countries


 

Sharjah, UAE, October 28, 2008: The Permanent Ministerial Committee of the Social and Economic Commission of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) which concluded the 24th session of the events held recently in Istanbul, Turkey, has chosen Sharjah City to host the 2011 edition of the Businessmen Forum for the private sector and also the Islamic Commercial Exhibition for Islamic member countries of the Conference, which will be held on the sidelines of the Forum.

The Committee called for providing all facilities to ensure the successful participation of members in these events in line with the incentives, services and facilities provided by the UAE in general and Sharjah in particular for hosting such events.

The UAE delegation to the meetings was headed by H.E. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, while the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry was represented by Saeed Obaid Al Jarwan, Board Member.

“In line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, to enhance Sharjah’s contributions, and in conformity with the approach adopted by the UAE to strengthen cooperation with Islamic countries, the Chamber had decided, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy to request for the event to be hosted in Sharjah. Various preparations in coordination with the parties concerned in the UAE will commence soon to ensure that the event is a major success”, said Al Jarwan.

Al Jarwan has also held meetings with a number of delegation heads and members to exchange views on the matter. He also referred to the outcome of his meetings with Dr. Murad Yaltentis, CEO of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and Dr. Kingis Yorsan, Secretary General of the Chamber, regarding various topics pertinent to developing cooperation between the participating members of the two parties. An invitation was also extended to the two officials to visit Sharjah during the month of November.
