Sharjah Asset Management Organises A Breast Cancer Awareness Day For Its Employees

The event was held in conjunction with University Hospital Sharjah as a part of the global Breast Cancer Awareness month


 

As part of its continued endeavours to raise awareness and spread health education in the community, Sharjah Asset Management, the investment arm of the Government of Sharjah, in collaboration with the University Hospital in Sharjah, organised a ‘Health Day’  aimed to raise awareness on breast cancer.

The campaign held as a part of the global Breast Cancer Awareness month which is celebrated every year in October. Activities of the ’Health Day’ covered free screening for the staff of Sharjah Asset Management, which included blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar testing. Followed by a dietitian consultation, in addition to guidance and advice on exercise and its role in reducing the chances of being afflicted by breast cancer. Besides, a breast cancer awareness session discussed methods for diagnosis of breast cancer, how to conduct self-examination, the importance of early detection for prevention, as well as answering employees’ queries about the disease.

His Excellency Ibrahim Al Houti, Chief Officer for Support Services at Sharjah Asset Management, said: "We place the health and safety of our workforce at the forefront of our activities, as they are one of the company’s core elements and main drivers of its success. Raising awareness of serious illnesses, such as breast cancer, is part of the health programs that we adopt to ensure the protection and prevention of our staff from the disease. Moreover, we thank the University Hospital Management for its cooperation in organising this Health Day”.

At the end of the event, University Hospital in Sharjah provided the female employees of the Sharjah Asset Management Company with free checkup vouchers for mammogram and vitamin D, as well as awareness literature on breast cancer.
