Sharjah Art Foundation launches its new annual film festival, Sharjah Film Platform (SFP), running from 18 to 26 January 2019. Building on over a decade of support for film and moving image works, the first edition of SFP expands the foundation's commitment to this medium by presenting film screenings in a range of venues across the city and emirate of Sharjah, including Mirage City Cinema, Al Mureijah Square; Al Hamriyah Studios, Al Hamriyah; Africa Hall, Al Manakh; and Al Hamra Cinema, Al Rolla.
The 2019 edition features over 100 short and feature films by local, regional and international filmmakers as well as a public programme of talks and workshops. An internationally recognised jury of film professionals will select winners for the best films in three categories: narrative, documentary and experimental.
