Sharjah Lights Festival Organizes Specialized Workshops And Programs For Young Photographers

The “Sharjah Lights Festival”, organized by the “Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority” during the period from 7 to 18 February this year, announced the organization of a group of workshops and photography tours in cooperation with the “Foto Photography” platform, FotoUAE, with the aim of Enriching the experience of photography enthusiasts, meeting their interests, and providing them with the opportunity to document the essence and message of the festival.

“Photo Photography” is a platform specialized in supporting photographers and photography talents in the United Arab Emirates, by publishing their work, including images and visual materials photographed and produced by them, and promoting it through its channels and pages.

Maysoon Hassan Al Hosani, Director of the Media Department at the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, said: “We are happy with this cooperation to contribute to meeting the passion of photography lovers and developing their skills during this year’s edition of the Sharjah Light Festival, in addition to providing a platform for the public and encouraging them to showcase their talents, as this partnership reflects a commitment to The Authority supports local talents, inspires young people, and enriches the visual content of the festival by supporting the creativity of photographers and participants in workshops and photography tours, which supports our role in strengthening the emirate’s position as a destination for art, culture and heritage in the region and promoting it tourism by highlighting the beauty of architecture and its tourist destinations.”

The cooperation between the two sides provided photographers with the opportunity to participate in a photography tour with Ola Al-Lawz, the founder and tour organizer of the FotoUAE photography platform in Al-Dhaid Fort. It allowed participants to wander around and take pictures of the landmarks surrounding the fort, exchange experiences and expertise among themselves, explore the historical fort, and take innovative pictures for the display. The festival’s workshops begin today with a workshop entitled “Double Exposure” in cooperation with Fujifilm, presented by photographer Ola Al-Lawz at Lake Khaled in Al Majaz. To introduce participants to the basics of taking photos with attractive compositions by using the double exposure technique and applying the workshop’s lessons to the photos taken for the light show at the destination in addition to the Al Noor Mosque display.

The “Storytelling in Pictures” workshop targets those interested in the art of visual storytelling and will be presented by trainer Abdullah Al-Ustad tomorrow at the public market in Hamriyah. It provides participants with the opportunity to learn how to convey a message through visual storytelling and improve their photography skills.

On February 14, at the “Sharjah Mosque,” ​​trainer Muhammad Al-Shaar will present a workshop entitled “Photography using the iPhone,” whose goal is to enhance skills and explore techniques and creative trends for mobile phone photography, so that the participants’ lenses capture the beauty of the details of engineering architecture and Islamic decorations highlighted by the “Sharjah Lights Festival” in a show. The series of events concludes with a “Video Shooting” workshop in cooperation with Fujifilm, presented by Ram Manoj on February 15 at the Sharjah Police General Headquarters Building, to introduce participants to the basics of video shooting, and to provide valuable ideas and insights about shooting an interactive video clip that tells a visual story, which will contribute Also in highlighting the distinctive engineering details of one of the latest architectural edifices in the emirate.

Within the framework of the festival, a competition will be organized by the FotoUAE photography platform, whereby the winner of the best work in each of the previous events will receive a prize presented by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.
