(13 December 2009)

- Recognised at Aviation Business Awards 2009.- Named top airline executive in Middle East.- Follows ’World Airline CEO of the Year’ award at World Low-Cost Airlines Congress

The Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, the Middle East and North Africa’s first and largest low-cost carrier, has been named “Airline CEO of the Year” by Aviation Business magazine, the leading industry title in the Middle East. Adel Ali received this accolade, which recognised him as the region’s top airline executive, at the Aviation Business Awards 2009.

This award follows a string of similar regional and international honours, including World LCC “CEO of the Year 2008” at Budgie Awards in London, UK, which also Air Arabia was named “Best Low-Cost Airline in the Middle East and Africa.”

"On behalf of everyone at Air Arabia, I am honoured to accept this prestigious award," said Ali, “and share this mark of recognition with our employees across the Middle East and North Africa region who work so hard to make Air Arabia a success. I would also like to offer my gratitude to the more than three million passengers who have chosen to travel with Air Arabia this year alone, and who continue to inspire us to offer the most reliable value-for-money air travel options in the wider region.”

This year has seen several accolades for Air Arabia strong performance during a challenging period for the global aviation sector. Air Arabia also named 2009 World Airline Award for “Best Low-Cost Airline in the Middle East” for the third consecutive year by Skytrax Research based on global, independent passenger surveys of airline standards. Most recently, Air Arabia was named "Low-Cost Carrier of the Year" by both the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) at the Aviation Outlook Asia 2009 congress in Beijing and at the Doha Aviation Summit 2009.

The Aviation Business Awards recognise companies, organisations and individuals that have achieved excellence in the sector in the Middle East. The awards are organised annually by Aviation Business, the leading source of information for airline, airport and government officials.
