Over a hundred volunteers gathered together at the Fisht Area, Ajman on 12 December 2009, for “Clean-Up UAE”. The campaign, 8th edition of “Clean-Up UAE”, was organized by Emirates Environmental Group.
Radisson Blu Resort, Sharjah played the role as a coordinator for the event after monthlong preparation. Help and support were garnered from the overall sponsors Al Safi Danone and Etisalat, along with main sponsors Beeh’ah The Sharjah Environment Company, Union National Bank and Averda.
Volunteers from all walks of life, individuals as well as corporations’ representatives contributed in cleaning up the 500m stretch of coastline. In the span of three hours, the volunteers with the bio-degradable bags and reusable gloves, completed the task with an upbeat attitude in spite of the gloomy weather. With all efforts combined, an incredible load of work was accomplished ---over 70kg worth of trash was collected!
Speaking of his team’s involvement, Basel Talal, General Manager of Radisson Blu Resort, Sharjah said “In the pursuit of our belief in Responsible Business, Clean-Up UAE is just one of the many commitments we take on.
Understanding that every stakeholder is important in this community, our hotel puts itself to uphold corporate social responsibility.”
