Sharjah Museums Department To Organize Culture Awareness Workshop On February 6

Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) is hosting Ali Alsaloom (a.k.a Ask Ali), the Founder of Embrace Arabia, on February 6 at Sharjah Heritage Museum. The Emirati staff of the Department of Interpretation and Education is offering Cultural Awareness Workshops on the first Saturday of each month. Ali Alsaloom will participate in this programme to share his passion of culture and heritage with the public.

The workshop, which is free for the adult public, will be held from 11am to 1pm and will be followed by a discussion session on culture and heritage. The public will enjoy the traditional atmosphere provided by the Sharjah Heritage Museum, the traditional seating, refreshment and the experience of wearing local clothing.

Ali Alsloom studied in U.S.A and Canada and traveled to Hungary, France, Spain and the UK. By sampling and celebrating this broad spectrum of different cultures, he developed a deeper appreciation for his Emirati heritage. With a university degree in Hospitality Management & Tourism and a Master’s in Brad and Cross-Cultural Management, Ali augmented his formal training with a natural flair for communication and an undeniable sense of showmanship. He is a member of the Professional Speakers Association of the Middle East and one of the Gulf’s few experts in the cultural tourism field.

Alsaloom is an author, cultural consultant, professional speaker and a TV show host. He is a prominent media star and public speaker in the Gulf. Ali delivers his intercultural awareness talks to hundreds of business groups. His TV show, Ask Ali, and weekly column in the magazine “M”, reach thousands and now available online at www.onetvo.com. For his work as a cultural ambassador, Time Out Dubai paid recognition to him as one of the 40 Local Heroes in 2008.

Sharjah Museums Department provides a range of educational programmes for adults across its 17 museums. These include tours, gallery discussions and workshops, which are held every week in different museums. Gallery talks and workshops offer an excellent opportunity to learn about and discover new insights into SMD’s extensive collections and to discuss ideas and concerns with museum professionals.
