After four years of excited anticipation, Sharjah sports fans are celebrating the start of the Football World Cup 2010 during the “Scream for Your Team” event hosted all month long at Al Qasba—the premiere tourist, cultural and entertainment destination in the emirate of Sharjah. From June 11 to July 11, visitors can follow all the action with their friends and families in a newly designed competition tent featuring wall-to-wall projectors and weekly raffles to celebrate the spirit of the international championship.

“The World Cup is a true celebration of the human spirit and far more than just a football tournament,” says Hazem Sawaf, Director of Sales and Marketing at Al Qasba Development Authority. “It is an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together, experience the thrill of victory and cheer on some of the greatest icons of international sport. Through our event and promotions, we are looking to offer our visitors the best venue to watch their favorite teams and cheer for their idol players in an atmosphere of excitement and competition.”

Visitors can purchase their World Cup coupons at the events tent and enjoy a wide range of activities suited for both football fanatics and those that simply wanting to find out more about the game. Live matches will be shown in both English and Arabic with sofa seating available for all. In between matches, sport competitions and trivia contest will keep audiences entertained as they share their knowledge of the game they love.

All tickets are sold at very reasonable prices, and inside the tent vendors will be offering all kinds of refreshments options in addition to World Cup sports items. Visitors to the “Scream for Your Team” event can also enjoy a special promotional offer for just AED 150, including full day entry tickets for two, dining vouchers for two, plus four chances to win fantastic prizes including a car from Hyundai and Panasonic electronics along with other valuable prizes.

To add to the spirit of excitement, raffle draws will be held at the opening of the first match every Friday—a total of four raffles being done in all. Companies sponsoring the event include Hyundai, Panasonic, Al Khaleej Tents, Sharjah Electricity and water Authority and Sharjah Media Corporation
