His Highness Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi Orders 45% Increase In Allocation To Social Welfare Funds

Total Annual Amount of AED162.4 Million to Benefit 8,092 Families


 

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the Sharjah Social Services Department to increase its allocation to social welfareby 45 per centstarting this monthadding AED50.4 million to the portfolio.

The directive will take the total value of the social welfare funds to AED162.4 million, which will be utilised to meet the needs of 8,092 families that have been identified by the Social Services Department on the basis of their health, social and economic circumstances.

His Highness made the announcement todayduring the live show Al-Khat Al-Mubasheron Sharjah TV. As part of his talk, the Ruler of Sharjah added that he is closely monitoring the needs of all sectionsof the society, especially retirees and those previously excluded from welfare support.

He added that shortly after arriving from his medical trip from Paris, his immediate priority was to coordinate with different entities to achieve the required increase in social welfare benefitsfordeserving individuals and families including the Bedouins.

Her Excellency Afaf Al Marri, Director of Sharjah Social Services Department,thanked His HighnessSheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimiand said that the magnanimous gesture will support the needyindividualseconomically and alleviate their hardships.

She added that 4,102 families will receivetheir sharein cash from the eight different headquarters of the Sharjah Social Services Department that are located in the districts of City of Sharjah, Al Thaid, Al Mlaiha, KhorFakkan, Al Hamriyah, Kalba’a, DebaAlHosn and Al Mdam. An additional 3,099 families will receive their due through the ‘Sanad’ card from the Sharjah Islamic Bank. The Sharjah Social Services Department isalso working on providing the ‘Sanad’ card to the other 4,102families who will be receiving their initial contribution in cash.

Her ExcellencyAl Marriaddedthat the beneficiary families will be entitled to amounts varying betweenAED1,000-AED5,440 depending on the number of family members and their respective health, economic and social circumstances.
