Family Amusement Day At Sharjah Museums Department Enriches Technical Knowledge And Maritime Science

Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) has organized a series of special educational workshops on the family amusement day held every Saturday during the current month of March whereas workshops are focusing on enhancing technical knowledge and marine science. 

The Department of Interpretation and Education organized at Sharjah Art Museum on Saturday, 3 March, a workshop titled "Make your Own Kite decorated with your trips and visited Places" during which children learnt about orientalists and the places they visited by using paintings at the museum.

The participating children also learnt about means of transport and travel that were used in the past. The workshop encompassed various activities inside the museum’s halls which concluded with a tour of the place where the participating families engaged in making a painting using different colors to draw the places they visited and using papers to make some models, such a ship plane, among others.

The department also organized another workshop on Saturday, March 10 at the Sharjah Aquarium titled "Maritime Jungle" where the participating children learnt about marine livings which carry the same names of animals and examined the aspects of similarity and difference between them. The workshop was aimed at identifying the participants of the beauty marine environment and the importance of preserving it.

At the end, the participants made memorial cards thanking the Aquarium for spending a joyful day in the Aquarium.

A very special workshop titled ’Horse ornament” is scheduled to be held next Saturday, 17 march, at Sharjah Archaeology Museum, The  participating families will explore about horse decoration and materials used for decoration in the pre and during the Islamic era. They will be educated about the importance of horses during that period as well as of horse burial rites through various activities, including the drawing of the golden bridle.

The children will also learn about the horseback cover by making decorations and adornments on the horseback cover, using colored wires, before they engaged in the last activity about the horses addle when the children then act out (dramatize) the story using simple props, or by using body movements and gestures.

At the end of the tour, a workshop will be held at the Education Hall for families who will decorate a piece of clothing similar by using colored stones.

SMD stressed the importance of these workshops in personality building of younger generations and urged families to register and benefit from the important information that enrich the experiences, knowledge and culture of children.
