Sharjah Museums Department Hosts Art Teachers From Sharjah Education Zone At Sharjah Art Museum

Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) hosted female teachers from Sharjah Educational Zone at Sharjah Art Museum where they acquainted themselves with school workshops conducted by the Emirates Fine Arts Society. The teachers were received at Sharjah Art Museum by Maissa Al Suwaidi, Museum Services Manager in SMD.

The visit was aimed at familiarizing the teachers with the museum’s crucial role in enhancing contact with the country’s schools and extending bridges of communication with all categories of the community.

The teachers were briefed on the Emirates Fine Art Society’s exhibition, which was opened recently, and will continue through for three months until 21 April. Presentations were also made by Muna Al Hammadi - Education specialists on free school workshops and programs offered by the Museum to public and private schools across the country.

The teachers were informed about the six school workshops offered by the museum to primary and preparatory school children, as well as about school tours and procedures for registration in these workshops.

During the visit, Muna Al Hammadi briefed the teachers on school workshops, most notably "Recycling" workshop for primary school students, to teach them how they can benefit from environmental waste, such as water bottles, to make beautiful artworks, while preserving environment.

The second workshop titled "Necklace" is designed for primary school students as it offers them the opportunity to Explore various art models and paintings that can be made in a creative way, and learn how to make a necklace or a medal by using various art tools.

Another workshop, titled "Mix Media" is designed for elementary school students to help them learn new ways of painting and the latest contemporary art techniques. "Black and White" workshop is designed for preparatory and secondary school students to teach them ways of drawing in black and ways of shading , as well as the new techniques of painting and drawing.

The teachers also toured the museum’s four floors of galleries dedicated to modern creative expression and viewed exhibitions and collections of over 100 artworks and masterpieces, including graphic displays exhibiting an amazing array of styles and interpretations created by artists from the Arab world.
