The Sharjah Book Fair will be represented by a delegation led by Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Amri, Director of Sharjah International Book Fair, who will be accompanied by Salim Omar Salim, Head of Sales at Sharjah International Book Fair, with the aim of promoting SIBF, encouraging American participation, and demonstrating how leading publishing houses and distributors would benefit from the Sharjah Fair. As the SIBF offers a unique platform for all professionals in the field of publishing and the book industry to get together in Sharjah—a gateway to the Middle East- which is internationally recognized as a cultural hub in the Arabian Gulf region.

The Department’s participation at Book Expo America will be through a special pavilion featuring number of literary works by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which have been translated into several languages, such as French, English, and Spanish, among other releases from the Department of Culture and Information in Sharjah.

Also a number of releases will be featured by “Kalimat Publishing House”, “Knowledge without Borders”, “UAE Publisher Association”, “UAE Board on Books for Young People”, “Sharjah Commerce Tourism Development Authority”, “Sharjah Biennial”, “Sharjah Media Centre”, in addition to different publications by childhood centres, and other cultural initiatives and projects based in Sharjah.

The application forms for participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair & Sharjah Children Reading Festival will also be on display at the Department’s stand.

Statistical reports featuring ample information about the Book Fair’s previous editions will also be on offer, demonstrating the resounding success in the successive years – as well as the success of its development and expansion plans in terms of qualitative and quantitative criteria that cope with the promising development taking place in Sharjah and the UAE in general.

Speaking on this occasion, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Amri, Director of Sharjah International Book Fair, said: "We are keen to participate in international arenas in line with our commitment to the directives of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to extend bridges of cultural communication between Sharjah and other cultures in various parts of the world."

"Book Expo America offers a B2B platform for the Management of the Sharjah International Book Fair to meet and network with leading American and international publishing houses to inform them about the Sharjah Book Fair and invite some publishing houses to participate in its upcoming editions so as to add significantly to the show and its status as a highly reputed book fair," he added.
