28th Sharjah World Book Fair
Under the guidance and patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The Department of Culture & Information of Sharjah Government has been organizing International Book Fair in Sharjah since 1982, a 10 day annual event that bridges cultures in one educational place, showcasing books of more than 750 publishers from nearly 42 nations, with average 400,000 visitors visiting yearly and making trade worth U.S $ 28 million.
Sharjah International Book Fair gained an international honorable reputation and built a fabulous image among many world book fairs. This event is considered the biggest memorable event in Sharjah. The main aim of Sharjah International Book Fair is to generate reading habit among the people, mainly the younger generation, and to make quality books reachable at affordable prices. Sharjah International Book Fair offers readers with variety of valuable books for children, mothers, adults, teachers, students, professionals and etc.
Sharjah International Book Fair invites you to take part in its 28 th session that will be during 11 th -21 st November 2009 .
International Representations:
In recognition of its international standard and success, the Sharjah World Book Fair is given memberships of many international organizations such as (1) Afro-Asian Book Council (2) Arab Publishers’ Association (3) GCC Book Committee, etc.
Recognized by : International Publishers’ Association (IPA).
General Organization:
- Sharjah World Book Fair has got two main divisions: (a) Display division (2) Sales division.
- Both the divisions will have Arabic language and Foreign language sections .
Visiting hours:
- Saturdays & Thursdays: (10:00 - 22:00)
- Fridays: (16:00 - 22.30)
- Boys’ Schools: Mondays & Wednesdays( 10:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs).
- Girls’ Schools: Sundays, Tuesdays ( 10:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs)
Participants:
(a) Publishing houses or their authorised agents (b) c ultural establishments , research centres, societies, universities, media.
(c) Producers of educational aids, maps, audios/videos.
Book Fair Guide:
The Book Fair Guide published annually provides full information on the current book fair .
Book Fair Catalogue / CD:
The catalogue and CD, published in Arabic and English languages, contain full information on available titles (title name, author, price, e tc.) that are available at the fair, with a special children’s books section . (Dewy System is applied for subject classification.)
