Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival 2013
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and with the support and directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, the 5th Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) will take place from April 23rd to May 4th 2013 at the Sharjah Expo Centre.The children’s event, one of the region’s premier cultural extravaganzas dedicated to children, is expected to see wide participation from various organisations and bodies.
The 12-day festival will bring together more than 80 local and international publishing houses, which will display their latest publications in the field of children’s literature.
SCRF will host 80 guests including authors, intellectuals, artists and researchers in the field of children’s literature, who will participate in the parallel seminars, workshops and exhibitions, due to be held as part of the o cial SCRF program. SCRF will also include a series of art and heritage workshops, as well as theatrical plays, reading sessions, a play zone, circus performances, clown shows, special needs workshops, safety workshops, nutrition workshops and many other activities performed by guests from the GCC region, Arab world and Europe. In addition, the cookery corner will be hosting famous chefs who specialize in children’s cuisine and SCRF has again organized awards for children’s books.
