Importance of Good Health Highlighted at Sharjah Bridal Fair 2017
A series of informative health and beauty sessions educated visitors about healthy choices and skincare at the ongoing Sharjah Bridal Fair (SBF 2017) yesterday. In its second edition, this signature wedding exhibition organised and hosted by Sharjah’s Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre (JRCC), is laying special emphasis on health and vitality through a series of workshops and talks.
These sessions, combining beauty and health, aimed to raise awareness of visitors about the importance of adopting healthy eating and lifestyle habits, as they are directly associated with beauty, with a focus on healthy weight loss and dieting tips to maintain beauty and healthy body.
A session ‘Different Effective Diet Plans to Help You Lose Weight Fast’, facilitated by clinical dietitian, Dr. Lama Al Naeli, highlighted basic tips to attain and maintain a healthy body by following a host of healthy diet guidelines. The importance of breakfast as an essential meal that helps weight loss and control was shared.
She underlined the need to shed the popular misconception about ‘skipping breakfast helps weight loss’, and stressed that it in fact enables the body to access and maintain essential nutrients.
“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives you energy to start a new day, and is linked with several health benefits, including weight control, improved vitality and overall performance,” Dr. Al Naeli emphasised.
An interesting revelation made to the session’s attendees was slow eating having a positive impact on weight loss – an easy lifestyle practice that induces weight loss without getting into complicated dietary plans. It also raised awareness about the importance of eating regular meals throughout the day because it helps burn calories faster as well as the importance of exercising as a key to a healthy body.
“Regular exercise is necessary for physical fitness and good health. It reduces the risk of many diseases. Exercise is also a key to weight control because it burns calories,” Dr. Al Naeli added.
She suggested drinking 6-8 glasses (approx. 2 litres) of water a day, and eating fiber-rich food, saying: “Fiber-rich foods, such as fruits, vegetables, oat and whole grain bread give a feeling of fullness for a long time, and are ideal for weight loss.”
Reading food labels to monitor calories, fats, salts and sugars, artificial ingredients, was one of the many tips she gave to be adopted on a daily basis.
Dr. Al Naeli presented a healthy recipe containing whole grains, vegetables, fruits and protein, as an example of daily meal that can be consumed to fulfill dietary requirements and stay healthy.
In another interactive session, Nivine Rammal, expert and trainer at L’Occitane, shared quick and easy tips for healthy and beautiful skin. She advised brides-to-be to follow skincare tips one month before the big day, and the importance of using natural products instead of cosmetics with high chemical content.
