Fossil Rock Lodge, a luxury stay-in at Sharjah’s desert
Intrepid explorers wanting to make the most of the UAE’s stunning natural environment and stay at a facility that celebrates a unique slice of the country’s modern history will soon be able to enjoy the Fossil Rock Lodge, the latest adventure leisure offering from Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, Shurooq. It is due to open in the first quarter of 2018.
Located in Shurooq’s Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-tourism Project , a premium recreation and tourist destination that combines exciting desert activities with nature treks and archaeological tours ,the Fossil Rock Lodge is a luxury hospitality facility sited adjacent to a magnificent natural feature, ‘Fossil Rock’, near Mleiha where fossils of marine animals from millions of years ago can be found. .
The lodge has five bedrooms with a visitors’ office, restaurant, dining and reception rooms, library, outdoor terrace, fire-pit and public roof terrace. There is also a café with a capacity of 42 people and a 430 sq. m. spa with an open air saltwater pool.
Nearby visitor attractions include Fossil Rock and the Camel Rock as well as the Mleiha Archaeological Centre, which narrates the story of the UAE’s earliest ancestors.
The Fossil Rock Lodge forms part of the first phase of the Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-Tourism project. Its second phase will involve the construction of Mleiha National Park in collaboration with the Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority. the park will serve as a wildlife reserve that will house a range of animals, including oryx, gazelles and mountain deer.
